Greenhouses and tunnels are expensive to built and therefore the soil in a greenhouse and tunnels will be used extensively and on a continuous basis. Crop rotation and fallowing of the the soil is good practice, but even with crop rotation and fallowing, there will still be a build-up of parasitic nematodes and unwanted pathogens in the greenhouse’ or tunnels’s soil. The costly structure of the greenhouse or tunnel will not be producing any income while laying fallow. Soil fumigation will help the farmer to claim back his greenhouse’s soil and will render it to be more financially productive without having to relocate the greenhouse to new unused soil.
